St Jean de Cole - 10-12km + optional 7km

Todays run starts from the village of Saint Jean de Cole which sits on the river Cole. It has been voted one of the prettiest villages in France, and it never fails to impress. It is like stepping back in time arriving at this quaint village. It has an old stone cobbled bridge over the river, a beautiful moulin, a historic church and impressive chateau. The streets are full of quaint little houses and a couple of cafe/restaurants.

We will run through the village and soon pass into the countryside along a small lane where we run past one of several old lavoirs, another old moulin with its dried up mill pond and then head out onto trails through chestnut woods

A pleasant fairly unchallenging run today, with a few inclines but as soon as we hit the old railway line, the voie verte, it is slightly down hill all the way back to St Jean de Cole.

A picnic lunch and then a chance to have a wander around the village to have a little look around. Then the chance to run a further 7km as we head back to Thiviers along an ancient track, that probably in days gone by was actually the quickest way between the two places, but we will pretty much have the route to ourselves.

After the inital descent up out of the village we pass by a palombiere, where the hunters have their network of bird cages rigged in the trees, a little vineyard, a few farm buildings and cut across countryside tracks as we see Thiviers church spire in the distance.

A nice choice of easier trails today, but the final climb up to Thiviers will have us all puffing I am sure.

The afternoons run is optional, if you wish to be taken back to Thiviers to have a walk around whilst the others run the point to point then you can decide after lunch.

You are a super fast runner that wants to run alone ? - Not a problem you can also run these trails using my gps
